Griefshare

Griefshare – a grief support group

  • From Tuesday 20 September
  • 7-8.30pm
  • At The River Rooms, Church Street, Coltishall

Griefshare is a group for people who have been bereaved. Whether you have recently lost a loved one, or whether your loss was some time ago, we know that it is incredibly painful, and that it affects people in deep and surprising ways. Griefshare is a place where you can receive support through the journey of grief.

The Griefshare group will meet weekly for nine weeks, starting on 20 September 2016 (with a break for the half-term holiday). Each week we will meet from 7-8.30pm to watch a video, discuss what we have heard, share our experiences (as much as you want to – there is no pressure put on anyone) and support each other. We’ll have tea and cake too! We will meet at The River Rooms in Coltishall.

The Griefshare videos feature a range of people. Lots of them are ordinary people who have lost loved ones. There are also counsellors and Christian ministers (most of whom have also suffered loss) speaking from their wisdom and experience. A workbook that goes with the course has information and weekly exercises that you can do.

The course is being run by Broadgrace church, and the material is coming from a Christian perspective on life, death and God. You do not have to be a Christian or a member of the church to come along, and we will not be expecting everyone to agree with everything said on the videos! The church members who will be running the group have all been through it ourselves and think that it would be useful for many people suffering with grief, whether they have a faith or not. You are welcome.

The only cost for the course is buying the workbook, which costs £15. There is a bursary fund available if you cannot afford this. There will be no charge for tea, coffee or anything else. If you think this group might be for you, but you’re not sure, you are very welcome to come for the first few weeks and see what you think. You don’t need to commit to the whole course at the beginning.
